Being in the window and door replacement business in the San Diego area means we get a lot of requests for replacement sliding patio doors. Many of our clients want to take advantage of the amazing San Diego climate that allows them to be comfortably outdoors almost any day of the year. The right patio doors are a great way to extend your home into the outdoors, giving your home more usable space and allowing you to embrace indoor/outdoor living.
Sliding patio doors differ from swinging, or hinged, patio doors in that they open by sliding one or more panels. For our San Diego clients wanting sliding patio doors, we recommend Anlin brand doors. For several reasons, Anlin sliding doors are the best choice. First, the manufacturer offers a full lifetime warranty, which covers accidental glass breakage, parts and labor and is fully transferable.
Also, Anlin uses extruded vinyl and heavy duty patio door hardware that makes their patio doors extra durable. The quality of materials also means they can offer 10’ x 6’8” patio doors as a two door panel. Most competing brands can only offer 10’ x 6’8” doors as a three door panel because their construction and materials won’t support the weight of the glass in two panels. Why does this matter? Because a two panel door gives you larger panes of glass, and therefore better visibility to the outdoors, as opposed to a three panel door which will offer small panes of glass and more frames to look through.
Two panel doors are the most common type of vinyl patio doors we install, but we can install doors to fit in spaces up to 16’ wide. For spaces more than 10’ wide, you will need three or four sliding doors. The maximum height available with Anlin’s vinyl patio doors is 8’ tall doors. Patio doors come in a variety of sizes, but most popular are the ones measuring 5’0” x 6’8” and 8’0” x 6’8”.
With any installation BM Windows does, whether it’s replacement sliding patio doors or replacement windows, we finish the job right! All of the sliding patio doors we install will be finished on the interior with custom made jamb and casing, for a complete and finished look. Many other window companies use cheap aluminum wraps or leave the door unfinished. We want to make sure you are completely satisfied with your new patio doors before we leave.
