Our customers always have lots of questions about window and door products we sell, bur rarely do they ask about the screens that come with them. Maybe they assume window screens are pretty much all the same.
Believe it or not, the screens on your replacement windows and doors can really make a difference in the visibility of the scenery through your windows. The type of screen you choose can also affect the amount of heat and UV rays that are let into your home. Not to mention, some window and door screens are just better made—with higher quality materials and better construction methods—and will be more durable than others.
That being said, we wanted to give you some information on the types of screens that are available with the replacement window and door products we sell to our San Diego customers.
BetterVue Screens
All of Anlin’s branded products come standard with BetterVue screens. These high-quality screens provide 20% better airflow, as well as 20% more optical clarity, and 10% better insect protection than most other standard screens on the market. They are also manufactured with a special antimicrobial protection that keeps mold, mildew, and bacteria from growing on your screens.

Upgraded SunTex Screens
For those customers looking for a more “heavy-duty” screen, they can upgrade to the SunTex 80-HD window and patio door screens. These screens block up to 80% of the sun’s heat and 75% of UV rays. So even when your windows and patio doors are open, you can still receive protection from the sun. In addition, the mesh in the SunTex 80-HD screens is seven times stronger than standard screens, so they are great for homes with pets. They aren’t technically “pet proof,” but they do stand up to pets better than most products on the market.
With that durability and protection from the sun, however, you do sacrifice some visibility, so if you’re someone who enjoys a clear view of the outdoors, or likes lots of natural light in your home, these screens might not be the best choice for your San Diego home, and you should probably go with the BetterVue screens.
Aluma-Force Heavy Duty Streamline Screen Frames
The windows in Anlin’s Del Mar series come standard with screens made with Anlin’s Aluma-Force heavy-duty streamline screen frame. These frames are also available as an upgrade when you purchase the Catalina series of windows. They are made with thick walls of high-test aluminum that make them almost impossible to bend and extremely durable. Another great feature of these screen frames is that they come with a wide lift rail that will never break off, unlike the small lift tabs found on other screens. The lift rail also makes it easy to grasp to lift the screen.
Anlin Screens Included with the Replacement Window Warranty
Unlike the screens that come with other replacement window brands, the screens that are included with the Anlin replacement window and patio doors are covered by Anlin’s excellent manufacturer’s warranty. If you really look at the warranties that come with other window brands, you will find that they only cover the windows themselves, and not the screens.
If you have any questions about the products we sell, we would be happy to answer them, whether they’re about screens, replacement windows, patio doors, or the installation process.
