San Diego is a military town. With multiple military bases in the area, it’s not unusual to see our men and women in uniform on a daily basis in San Diego and the surrounding areas. Here at BM Windows, we even have the pleasure of doing business with them from time to time and are happy to offer them a military discount—it’s the least we can do for their service to our country.
But we wanted to take our support for members of the United States military one step further beyond giving a military discount on replacement windows. We wanted to support a reputable charity that benefits those who have served with a portion of the proceeds we receive from our replacement window sales. After much research and consideration, we decided to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

What is the Wounded Warrior Project?
For those who have never heard of it, the Wounded Warrior Project is a national nonprofit that is on a mission to “honor and empower Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound… in military service on or after September 11, 2001.” They offer a variety of programs that benefit United States servicemen and women who have been wounded in their service to our country—everything from mental health treatment to physical therapy to career counseling. They also offer support and mentoring for caregivers of wounded veterans.
The Wounded Warrior Project is based in Jacksonville, Florida, but has an office right here in San Diego to benefit local veterans. They are doing great work right here in our San Diego communities for veterans and their families.
One specific thing that we love about the Wounded Warrior Project is that they don’t just help servicemen and women with physical injuries, but they also assist those who are dealing with the mental effects that can result from being involved in military conflict, such as post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, as well as traumatic brain injuries. They offer counseling, a crisis hotline, educational resources, an innovative outdoor rehabilitation trip, and more.
A large percentage of any donation made to the Wounded Warrior Project goes directly to fund their programs, with very little being used for overhead and administration. This was important to us as we sought out a charity to support that would do the most good with the money we donated.
How Can I Support the Wounded Warrior Project?
We are proud to be members of the Wounded Warrior Project’s Advance Guard, a designation reserved for regular givers to the charity. If you’re looking for a worthy charity to support, we encourage you to join us at BM Windows in supporting the Wounded Warrior Project. You can learn more about them or donate to the charity on their website: https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
