As a small, local, service-based business, we rely heavily on word-of-mouth marketing. People who have used us in the past for replacement windows will tell their friends and neighbors about our company, who will then call us to replace the windows in their houses. In addition, we get a lot of business from online referrals. Past customers will leave us reviews on various sites on the internet that allow people to rate and review businesses.
For a small home improvement company with a limited marketing budget like ours, we are grateful for these reviews because they help us get our name out in the San Diego community. While there are dozens of review sites out there, there are three that are especially popular with consumers: Yelp, Facebook, and Google.
Yelp Reviews
Yelp is probably most visited of all the consumer review sites. According to the ReveiwTrackers blog, the Yelp website receives more than 178 million unique visitors every month! Of course, only a fraction of the visitors are looking for replacement windows in San Diego, but that number shows that Yelp is still a very popular platform among consumers.
BM Windows receives overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. Not only do the vast majority of our reviewers give us five stars (the highest rating available), but they also tend to leave long, detailed reviews talking about the quality of our windows, our installation, and our customer service.
Here’s an example of a typical Yelp review of our San Diego replacement window company:
Absolutely phenomenal service. Super easy to work with and to schedule. Consultation and installation arrived on time. No pushy sales tactics, and quick to respond to questions and concerns. After looking at various vendors, BM Windows was the best match for price and quality. Highly recommended them!”
Albert L., San Diego
Facebook Reviews
We don’t get as many reviews on Facebook as we do on sites like Yelp and Google, but as of this writing, every single one of the reviews we’ve received on Facebook has been positive, and all of the writers say they would recommend our company to others!
Here’s our most recent review from one of our customers on Facebook:

Had BM Windows replace 25 windows and 3 doors on our house in Pt Loma. Not a straight forward job for a 78 year old house. Owner, sales rep, scheduler, and install team were all responsive and responsible with a very clean installation that matches the house very well. The Anlin windows look to be a very good value for our purpose.”
Jay S., Point Loma
Google Reviews
Google is most well-known for being a search engine, but it also serves as a platform for customers to leave reviews on businesses. So, when you do a search for a business, not only will you find their contact information, but you will also see what others are saying about the business, right there on the search results page. If you do a quick Google search for “BM Windows San Diego,” you will see that we have received excellent customer reviews on Google.
Highly recommend this company. From start of project to completion was a good experience. No pushy salesman [and] very knowledgeable. Prices are better than three other companies I had consulted. Installers very professional and paid attention to detail. Finally the warranty that comes with the windows can’t beat it.”
Jason S., San Diego
No Fake Positive Reviews
As we’re sure you’re aware, there are businesses out there with positive reviews that aren’t legitimate reviews. The business owners may have convinced friends or family members to leave their company glowing reviews to help boost their online reputation. Many people are happy to do this as a favor to their friend or relative, but unfortunately, it doesn’t do anything to help consumers as they research companies for replacement windows, or for any product or service for that matter.
Another, even shadier, approach that businesses sometimes use is to hire companies (often located overseas) that will populate review sites like Yelp, Google, or Facebook with fake positive reviews. This practice is known as “astroturfing.” While not illegal, it is unethical, and certainly violates the terms of any reputable review site, as well as the trust of consumers when it is uncovered.
All of the positive reviews online for BM Windows are completely genuine. They are written by our actual San Diego replacement window customers. We have never hired a so-called “reputation management company” to create fake customer accounts in order to post fake reviews, and we never will. We don’t have to! Instead, we will continue to provide great service and quality replacement windows throughout San Diego, and let our customers take it from there.
On very rare occasions, we receive a less than five-star review. Unfortunately, you can’t please all the people all the time (although we try our best), and some people are impossible to please, no matter what you do or say. If you read the few negative reviews we have, they are actually from people who have never even worked with us. For example, a couple of people gave us one-star reviews because they only needed two new windows, and when we told them that we have a three window minimum, they decided to leave a bad review. It’s unfortunate, but it happens, and it’s part of doing business. We will typically write a respectful response to the reviewer, correct any misinformation they may have posted, wish them well, and move on.
If you’re looking for a replacement window company in San Diego, we hope you’ll take the time to do your research and find out what others are saying about the various companies in the area. Once you do, we hope you contact us to schedule a consultation, during which you can learn more about the windows we sell and receive a quote for your project. We are also happy to answer any questions you have about replacement windows or the installation process.
