Anlin Windows Warranty: Truly the Best in the Industry

One of the replacement window brands we’ve sold at BM Windows for many years now is Anlin Windows. And one of the reasons why have chosen this brand is because of the excellent product warranty they offer to our San Diego replacement window customers.

The Anlin Windows warranty has always been good, but back in 2017, Anlin decided to make it even better. Prior to 2017, Anlin offered homeowners who installed their replacement windows a limited lifetime guarantee—meaning, they covered their products for as long as the original purchaser of their windows and doors owned and occupied their home. In January 2017, Anlin announced their new warranty terms, which changed their warranty to a “True Double Lifetime Limited Warranty.” Here’s a portion of the language in their new warranty:

Anlin Windows & Doors (“Anlin”), fully warrants to the “Purchaser” of its Del Mar, Catalina, Coronado and Panoramic vinyl windows; Malibu patio doors; ThermaCoat SRC coatings and associated screens (“Products”) installed in single or multi-family residences owned and occupied by Purchaser as replacement or new construction (“Home”), that as long as the Purchaser continuously owns and occupies the Home, the Products will be free from defects in materials or workmanship and that Anlin will repair or replace any Products that are defective in materials or workmanship free of charge. This Warranty includes the costs of all parts, including freight, and labor. If, in Anlin’s sole opinion, it is not commercially practical to repair the Product in a timely manner, Anlin will, at the Purchaser’s option, either replace the defective Products or refund the purchase price.

Later in their warranty, they go on to describe what the word “Double” refers to in their True Double Lifetime Warranty:

This True Double Lifetime Limited Warranty may be transferred by the individual(s) who owns and occupies the Home when the Products are installed to the subsequent owner who also occupies the Home…

In other words, whomever owns and occupies your home after you is also covered for a lifetime under the Anlin Windows warranty, as the warranty is easily transferrable from the original purchaser of the windows and doors (you) to the next owner.

Why Would You Want a Transferrable Window Warranty?

You may be thinking right now, “Why should I care about a transferrable warranty? A lifetime warranty is all I really need, right?”

A lifetime warranty is certainly sufficient for most homeowners, but a double lifetime warranty is a nice bonus for a couple of reasons.

Although it’s a less common practice these days, some people still pass on their homes to their children or other relatives when they decide to downsize or move to another location. In these cases, it’s nice to also be able to pass on a warranty that can benefit their relatives in the future. The new homeowners will certainly appreciate the coverage.

A transferrable warranty is also a nice selling feature when you put your home on the market. No, it’s not going to be the only reason someone chooses to buy your house, but in a competitive market, it could be the item that gives your home an edge over a similar one in a buyer’s mind. Make sure you mention to your realtor that you have a transferrable warranty on your windows and doors when you go to list it.

Transferring the Warranty to a Subsequent Owner

There are other manufacturers that allow you to transfer their warranties, but many of them make it quite difficult to do so. Not Anlin. All they ask is that you contact them by phone, mail, or email and give them your name, the new owner’s name, the address of the home, and the date of transfer. There’s no extensive paperwork to fill out. You don’t have to send anything by certified mail or jump through a bunch of hoops. They make the transfer process as simple as possible.

Warranty Limitations

Just like any warranty, there are things that are not covered in the Anlin Windows warranty. That’s why the word “limited” is included in their True Double Lifetime Limited Warranty. One of the limitations has to do with improper installation of their products. Understandably, Anlin won’t guarantee products that were installed incorrectly, as this would compromise the integrity of their windows and doors. Fortunately, BM Windows has you covered here. We offer our customers our own warranty that covers the window and door installation on top of the Anlin Windows warranty.

This means that when you purchase Anlin replacement windows and doors from BM Windows, your windows and doors are covered no matter what the issue is. If it is determined that your problem stems from improper installation, BM Windows will cover the cost of any parts and labor needed to make it right. If the issue is with the product itself, Anlin will take care of the repair or replacement of the window or door.

We don’t expect that our customers will know what caused the issue with their window or door. Not many of them are window and door experts. That’s why we tell our customers to contact us for any issues. We will come out and assess the situation. If we determine that it’s a product defect, we will contact Anlin on your behalf and make sure they follow through on the repair or replacement of your window or door. If the problem is a result of improper installation, we will handle it for you in a timely manner.

Another limitation on the Anlin Windows warranty is that they won’t cover products that are damaged by saltwater and sand from coastal environments. Again, BM Windows has you covered here. In our own company warranty, we cover products installed in coastal environments.

As our warranty states: “The BM Windows warranty covers patio door hardware, screen frames, and screen mesh, even for homes located in coastal areas. BM Windows will repair or replace (when not repairable) damaged materials at NO CHARGE.”

Many of our customers live in San Diego’s coastal areas (defined as areas within two miles of the ocean), and we want them to have the same coverage as any of our other customers.

Does Anlin Actually Honor Their Warranty?

A question we sometimes get from our customers is, “Does Anlin actually honor their warranty and take care of any claims made in a timely manner?” This question typically comes from a homeowner who has made a warranty claim in the past. They know that companies will often draw out the process for months, or even years, or they will refuse to cover the issue altogether. They will find some loophole in the small print that keeps them from honoring their warranty.

Having worked with Anlin for many years, we can honestly say that they are great about honoring their warranty. This may be because we handle all warranty claims on behalf of our customers and we have a great working relationship with Anlin, but whatever the reason, our customers tend to get great service from Anlin. Claims are handled quickly and to the homeowners’ satisfaction.
