In our last blog post, we talked about why we don’t post prices on our website, or take out ads that say “X amount per window, installed!” We should also mention that we usually aren’t able quote prices over the phone or by email, despite the fact that we get requests from potential customers almost on a daily basis to do so. In many industries, getting a price over the phone or by email is no problem, but the window replacement industry is a little different. There are many factors involved in pricing that make it necessary for us to go to a customer’s home, take measurements, and find out exactly what they are looking for in replacement windows before we can accurately quote a price. We wanted to go into a little more detail about what can affect the price of the replacement …

Why Our San Diego Replacement Window Company Doesn’t Advertise a “Price Per Window”
Every once in a while, when I’m driving down the freeway in and around San Diego, I’ll see billboards that say something like, “Windows installed for $149 each” or something along those lines. I always shake my head when I see billboards (or print ads) like this, advertising artificially low prices on replacement windows. One of three things must be true of the San Diego replacement window companies putting out these ads: The company doing the advertising is just picking a random low price so people will call them. Their salespeople will then give them a different (higher) price after visiting their home and taking measurements. They will explain to the customer that their windows are the “exception” to the $149 price that was advertised, or that the customer needs some added …
Poway Customer Happy With His Choice of BM Windows for Replacement Windows and Doors
Stephen M. is like a lot of our replacement window customers. He did his research online and got multiple quotes on replacement windows and doors for his Poway home. He received quotes from our company and from one of the large San Diego “big box” stores, as well as from another independent replacement window and door company in San Diego. Stephen reports in a Yelp review left for us that the quote we gave him was not the lowest of the three he received—but rather that our pricing for the replacement windows and doors he needed “...was in the middle of the three…” We’re guessing that the lowest price came from the other San Diego replacement window company, since we know that they only sell Milgard windows, which are lower-quality windows than the ones we sell at BM Windows (Anlin, Bay …

You want to see a finished product with your own eyes, so you can feel confident that you will also get a favorable outcome in your home. We get it. Buying replacement windows and doors is a big investment in your home—you want to make sure you hire a …
Patio Doors and an Energy-Efficient San Diego Home: Yes, You Can Have Both!
With outdoor temperatures heating up, many homeowners naturally begin to think about their home’s energy efficiency. Replacing your home’s windows and patio doors is a great way to make your home more energy efficient, as well as more comfortable in the hot summer months. Sometimes, we come across customers who want to add large patio doors to their home, but are concerned that installing them will make their home less energy efficient. We certainly understand the concern. A lot of people still think of the patio doors of old that were made with aluminum frames and a single pane of glass. Those patio doors did allow a lot of unwanted heat into homes, requiring San Diego homeowners to crank up the air conditioner in the summer. Today’s patio doors are much more energy efficient. With …
