Every replacement window company you talk to will say they offer a guarantee—most will even say they offer a lifetime guarantee on the windows they sell. BM Windows also offers a lifetime guarantee on our windows, but we go one step further in the guarantee we give our customers. We offer a lifetime warranty on the installation of our replacement windows and doors.

You may be wondering, “What’s the difference?”

The guarantee that most replacement window companies in San Diego offer is the warranty provided by the manufacturer of the windows. So, if a replacement window dealer sells you Milgard or Simonton or any other brand of windows, you will get whatever product warranty comes with those particular windows. This protects the customer against any manufacturing defects that may affect the performance or the life of the windows. Many of the top window manufacturers include a lifetime warranty with all of their products. Some manufacturers even offer a double lifetime warranty, which allows you to transfer the warranty to the next homeowner.

As we mentioned earlier, all the windows we sell at BM Windows come with at least a lifetime warranty, but we also include a lifetime installation warranty. Not every problem that can occur with replacement windows is due to a manufacturing defect. Sometimes, there will be an issue that’s due to a mistake that occurred during the installation process. When this is the case, BM Windows will fix the issue at no cost to the homeowner. We will either repair or replace the window, free of charge, and we will do it in a timely manner.

If you go with another replacement window company, and they do not provide you with an installation guarantee, you are often out of luck if there is a problem with your windows that is the result of faulty installation. You will have to pay out of your own pocket to have the window repaired or replaced.

The term “lifetime” can be a little bit confusing when you’re talking about warranties. When a company tells you they offer a lifetime warranty on replacement windows, it actually means that the warranty is good for as long as you own your home.

There are also some limitations on window warranties, as there are on pretty much any warranty out there. For example, if your windows are damaged as the result of a natural disaster, they likely won’t be covered by the manufacturer. (You would have to make a claim with your homeowner’s insurance.) You also have the responsibility to properly maintain your windows in order to keep your warranty intact.
