People land on the BM Windows website in a lot of different ways. Some of them hear about us from a friend or neighbor who has worked with us in the past and has pointed them to our website. Some see our Facebook page, and then click through to our website. Others find us on sites like Yelp and click on the link to our website from there. The majority of people, however, find us by doing Google searches. You may be one of those people.
Perhaps you went to Google and typed in something like “San Diego replacement windows” or “San Diego window company.” The BM Windows website typically comes up early in the Google search results for these types of searches, and as a result, we get a lot of traffic to our site from Google.
Have you ever wondered if the top results on Google are the best companies to work with, or is there another reason they show up early in the search results? The answer to that question is a bit complicated, but we’ll do our best to answer it in this blog post.
Paid Advertisements
Typically, the first results you see after doing a Google search are paid ads for the product or service Google thinks you’re looking for. Along with those results, you’ll see the word “Sponsored.” That’s another word for “paid advertisement.” Occasionally, you’ll see BM Windows in this list. We sometimes use some of our marketing budget to run paid ads on Google because they have a pretty good return on investment.
Anyone can advertise on Google and appear at the top of the search results. They could be a brand new company with little experience, a company with a not-so-great reputation, or an amazing company that offers great products and service. There’s really no easy way to tell. Appearing at the top of a Google search results page with the word “Sponsored” by the company name doesn’t say anything about the company other than that they’ve paid to be there.
The same is true for websites like Yelp. The first results you’ll typically see after doing a search are paid results, not those companies that get the best ratings or reviews.

This isn’t to say you shouldn’t click on Sponsored results. If you’re just starting out in your search, it’s important to look at a variety of companies in your area. Just make sure you do your research to see if the company is reputable by looking at reviews, asking for references, and seeing if the company has any complaints against them. Sites like the Better Business Bureau and the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) are helpful in this regard.
Organic Search Results
Underneath the Sponsored posts, you’ll start to see what’s called “organic search results.” These are the websites that Google has decided are the most relevant results, based on your specific search. If you type in “replacement windows San Diego,” Google will show you websites that have that that phrase, or something similar, on their website multiple times.
They’ll also show you sites that they determine are “reputable,” meaning that they don’t have spam on them and that they are well built, according to Google’s standards.
The BM Windows website tends to show up early in Google search results because it is a professionally built site that clearly states what we provide—replacement windows and doors in San Diego. Our site loads quickly and operates well on any type of device (computers, tablets, and phones). It is also updated regularly with relevant information to people searching for replacement windows in San Diego.
Having a great website that Google likes and puts at the top of their organic search results doesn’t necessarily mean that a business is a good one, but in our experience, it usually is a good indicator that it is. A company on page one of Google’s search results is one that has invested in a quality website. They know the importance of communicating clearly with potential customers and providing them with a website that will give them helpful information and a good user experience. This typically translates to the way a company works with their customers in person. They tend to make good customer service a priority.
Of course, this isn’t always the case, but it definitely is for us at BM Windows. We have designed our website to be a great resource for our customers. We’ve provided a ton of information for those who want to learn more about replacement windows, the process involved in purchasing them, and how our company can help. We do this because we want people to be informed consumers, so they can make the best choice when it comes to new windows for their home and get a great end result.
Once people contact us, they soon realize that we truly care about our customers and do everything we can to give them a great experience—from providing them with a fair and honest quote on high-quality windows, to using only professional installers, to honoring our warranty.
